LED BY CP LUDHIANA, HUNDREDS OF YOUTH VOW TO ELIMINATE DRUG ABUSE & GUN CULTURE FROM SOCIETY

COMMISSIONERATE POLICE ORGANIZE UNIQUE INITIATIVE 'PROMISE CUP' TO SENSITIZE MASSES AGAINST DRUG MENACE


 


ALSO TO HOLD BIGGEST CYCLE RALLY IN LUDHIANA TO SPREAD MESSAGE AGAINST THIS SOCIAL EVIL


 


Ludhiana, October 25-


Led by Ludhiana Police Commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu, hundreds of youth on Wednesday vowed to fight against drug menace during a unique initiative namely 'Promise Cup' launched by Commissionerate Police here at village Duley.


 


Divulging the details, the CP said that this three-day long Cricket Cup has been launched to galvanize people against this menace as all the participating 32 teams and spectators have made Promise not to say no to drugs for brighter further. They have also vowed to discourage gun culture in their lives by staying away from songs glorifying gun culture and violence on social media, he said. The participants and spectators have also made promise to work closely with Police to curb durg abuse from the society by sharing every bit of information about persons involved in drug practices in their respective localities.


 


Giving more information, Mr. Sidhu said that the tournament brings together as many as 32 teams from Ludhiana's rural areas and has a powerful mission to fight against drug addiction. The name "Promise Cup" symbolizes the commitment of our youth to say NO to drugs, collaborate with law enforcement, support those battling addiction, and harness their energy positively, he added.


 


He fuerther stated that this initiative combines the thrill of cricket with a powerful message - let's unite against the drug menace and shape a brighter, drug-free future ahead. The CP also informed that the Commissionerate Police is also going to organize one of the biggest cycle rallies to spread the message against drug abuse so that this drive can be transformed into a mass movement besides connecting our youngsters with sports.


 


He said that on the death anniversary of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha on November 16, the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate would also be organising a mega cycle rally to motivate youth to stay away from drugs.
