ludhiana,24 November (Daljeet Vicky)Sacred Heart Convent School, Sec-39, Urban Estate,Ludhiana kicked off its two-day ‘Annual Sports Fiesta-2023’ vigorously with a plethora of sports events on 24th November, 2023. Lt. Col. Anil Kunniparambil, The Ludhiana Terriers, Dholewal Military Station graced the occasion as the chief guest and inaugurated the Sports Meet. He was offered a cordial welcome by the school Director Rev. Fr. Thomas Poochalil, the Principal Rev. Sr. Crispin Maria, Primary In-charge Rev. Sr. Kripa Jose and Kindergarten In-charge Rev. Sr. Sharon Maria.

To invoke the blessings of God , a prayer was offered to the Almighty with “Ishwar Vandana”. Moving ahead, the event commenced with the cultural programme that featured – Drill Dance, Jersey Jamboree, Rhythmic performance, Twirl -the Hoola-Hoop and Martial Art- a Defense Sport. The main attraction was the Bike-show along with the entry of a well decorated jeep wherein the chief guest boarded along with the dignitaries and took a round of the whole ground area.

The Solemn Opening commenced with the lighting of sports torch which was passed by the students to the chief guest for the illumination of inaugural lamp of ceremony. The students demonstrated a graceful March Past in the colourful attire of their four respective Houses waving a salute of respect to the Lt. Col. Anil Kunniparambil. The administration of oath was led by the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion Lt. Col. appreciated the spirit of sportsmanship among the young learners and urged them to adopt sports in their daily life as games foster a healthy and sound body. Track and field events- 100 mtr. race, long jump, tug-of-war, javelin throw and relay race were continued throughout the event. Simultaneously, the chief guest awarded the best players who played different games at district, state level in PSEB and at National level in CISCE . Proficiency and merit certificates were also given away to the merit holders in field of Academics, Arts and club activities .

The management of the school thanked the chief guest for motivating and encouraging the students to rise up for the excellent performance and achievements in the sphere of games and sports.
