Huge plastic waste was removed from at the beds of Dorana Canal, Ludhiana by GGI students under 'Puneet Sagar Abhiyan'
Ludhiana, 27 February : 'Puneet Sagar Abhiyan' has been undertaken by Gulzar Group of Institutions & NCC Unit under 19 PB BN NCC, Ludhiana at the beds of Dorana Canal ,Ludhiana . Lot of plastic and other waste material have been removed from the beds of the canal for preservation of the water body.The drive to clean Dorona Canal was carried out and over 45 students and cadets.Commanding Officer of 19 PB BN NCC LDH, Colonel Praveen Dhiman and administrative officer Colonel KS Kondal congratulated the cadets and motivated them to continue the same process. Residents were also urged not to pollute this canal again. ANO, Lt. KJS Gill thanked all the cadets specially to NCC Alumni for being a part of this Abhiyan.
GGI Executive Director Er. Gurkirat singh said at the moment that the purpose of the Abhiyan is to educate locals and sensitise them about ‘Swachh Bharat’. It is envisioned to increase the awareness amongst the local population and future generations about the importance of keeping the beaches and riverfronts clean. He further added that a cleanliness drive was also taken out by the cadets in the college campus also and the collected garbage was then handed over to the garbage collection team.
