Opportunity to start food processing activity under PMFME Scheme

 Patiala, February 8, 2024 : The General Manager, District Industries Center, Patiala today informed on behalf of District Administration, they are organising an awareness camp on ’Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME Scheme), a centrally sponsored scheme, tomorrow i.e. February 9, 2024 at Patiala Chamber of Industries, Chamber Hall, C-109, Focal Point Patiala.


He further informed that the scheme was launched by Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India in June 2020 with total an outlay of Rs. 10,000 Cr. to be incurred over a period of 5 years i.e., 2020-2025. The aim and objective of the Scheme is to enhance competitiveness of micro food processing enterprises and promote formalisation of the sector. The Scheme provides financial support @ 35% of capital investment, maximum Rs. 10lakh or Rs. 3.00 Cr. respectively to both existing/new individual enterprises and FPOs/SHGs &its Federations/Producer cooperatives/ Government agencies for setting up of processing lines along with common infrastructure.


 Punjab Agro Industries Corporation (PAIC) is the State Nodal Agency of this scheme. Over 1,967 micro food processing enterprises (both existing & new) have so far been sanctioned a capital subsidy of Rs. 170 Cr. for a total new investment of Rs. 790 Cr. Of this, share of Patiala district is 78 micro enterprises. However, the target for Patiala district is to support 175 micro enterprises. to make interested enterprises, youth etc. aware about the scheme, its benefits etc., an awareness camp has been organised at the above location tomorrow I.e. 9th February. So, food processing enterprises/farmers/youths are requested to come forward to avail benefit of the Scheme and set up their own business ventures or upgrade their existing units.
