Cambodian Civil Servants’ Visit In Patiala for Training Program on Public Policy and Governance

Patiala, 3 April:  A delegation consisting of 39 esteemed Civil Servants from Cambodia embarked on a fruitful visit to Patiala today, engaging in productive discussions with both civil and police administration officials. Led by Mr. Eng Monyrith Deputy Director Cabinet Cambodia, the delegation was in India to participate in the fourth edition of the training program on Public Policy and Governance organized by the National Center for Good Governance, LBSNNA, Mussoorie and New Delhi under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Govt of India.


The visit marks a significant step in fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange in the realm of public service. Municipal Commissioner Aditya Dachalwal warmly welcomed the delegation on behalf of Deputy Commissioner Showkat Ahmad Parray, extending sincere greetings and emphasizing the importance of such cross-cultural engagements in enhancing governance practices.


The training program, tailored specifically for the civil servants of Cambodia, aims to equip participants with invaluable insights and best practices in public policy formulation and governance strategies. Through interactive sessions, workshops, and immersive learning experiences, delegates gain a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in effective governance, paving the way for enhanced service delivery and administrative efficiency in Cambodia.


Dr. Harjinder Singh Bedi ADC (RD) had given a presentation on the structure of district administration. Navreet Kaur Sekhon ADC (UD) presented a PPT about district Patiala. Sukhdev Singh DSP (H) explained the structure of Police department. Some members of the delegation enquired about the induction of civil servants in India, about women empowerment and grievance redressal system. The queries were answered by Aditya Dachawal and other officers. Aditya Dachawal inquired about the civil services structure of Cambodia which was answered by Mr Kang Sophanna.  


Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Eng Monyrith and Ms Chankoulika Bo, Director Phonom Penh expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the significance of bilateral cooperation in strengthening administrative capacities and fostering sustainable development. The members of the delegation look forward to leveraging the knowledge gained during their visit to contribute positively to the governance landscape in Cambodia.


As the delegation continues its immersive learning journey in India, both nations reaffirm their commitment to fostering enduring partnerships and collaborative initiatives aimed at driving socio-economic progress and prosperity. After the interaction the delegation visited NIS Patiala and had a meeting with the Executive Director Vineet Kumar and other officials. Dr B.S Bisht, Coordinator Director of NCGG, thanked the Patiala Administration for the warm hospitality. Madam Kanchan ADC (G) delivered the vote of thanks. All Sub Divisional Magistrates along with other officers attended the interaction. The stage was conducted by Dr Pankaj Kapoor in a diligent manner.
