'Green Transportation' awareness ride flagged off under 'Wake Up Ludhiana' campaign

Ludhiana, July 2: District Administration and Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana in association with CityNeeds flagged off 'Green Transportation' awareness ride under 'Wake Up Ludhiana' campaign from MC Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Tuesday.


Under this initiative , two riders - Goldy and Dorge Sherpa will ride the Mountaineering Bikes (sponsored by Avon Cycles) to the World's Highest Motorable Road, the Khardungla Pass at 18,383 feet, to promote green transport and environmental awareness.


The awareness ride was flagged off by MC Assistant Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon and Executive Director, Avon Cycles Ltd. Mandeep Pahwa.


The route of the 'Green Transportation' awareness ride includes high passes such as Zojila (11,649 ft), Namki La (12,198 ft), Fotu La (13,479 ft), Khardung La (17,582 ft), Tang lang la (17,480 ft), Lachung la (16,600 ft), Nakeela (15,647 ft), and culminates at Khardungla (18,383 ft).


During their one month expedition, the riders will talk about environment conservation and promote using green Transport which is good both for nature and health.

The officials stated that a 'Tree ATM' will also be launched by District Administration on July 5 with the help of which any organisation/residents can request for free tree plantation on their respective site.
