6000 posts of anganwari workers will be filled soon : Dr Baljit Kaur

 


Doraha (Ludhiana), June 28: Social Security and Women & Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur on Wednesday said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was set to open 1000 new anganwari centres in the state besides the process of recruiting 6000 anganwari workers and helpers will be completed soon for effective implementation of the schemes.


Accompanied by Rajpura MLA Neena Mittal, the Cabinet Minister said that besides opening new anganwari centres, renovation of existing buildings is also being carried out extensively. She said that the recruitment of the anganwari workers and helpers was being conducted fairly and transparently. She said that the state government would also start handing over smartphones to the workers for smooth functioning of the department. Further, she said that the honorarium of Rs 8.2 crore for anganwadi workers and helpers would also be released within a few days.


Dr Kaur was speaking in the function after the visit of an old-age home in Doraha, 21 km away from district headquarters.


The Cabinet Minister reiterated that the state government was ensuring the safety of children, women and the old-age persons in the state. She said the government was continuously making efforts for the welfare of women, especially pregnant and lactating women and strengthen of the anganwari services. She said that the aim of the visit was to check the infrastructure and facilities for the elderly and children here so that the same can be implemented in the government centres for better services.


Prominent amongst present on the occasion included Khanna SP Dr Pragya Jain, SDM Jasleen Kaur Bhullar, DSP Samrala Harsimrat Singh and others.
