Communism Chokes China during Covid Crisis.

Ludhiana : The lockdown period was one of the most hectic and unforgettable ones. However, the danger has not departed yet. With the unlocking of Covid19 protocols, the virus is still widespread, increasing day by day.

Shanghai remains the hotspot of covid 19 cases and, being the economic hub of China, has already conducted many rounds of testing. It has built temporary hospitals. Even the stadiums and swimming pools turned into provisional hospitals. Still, the situation in Shanghai is so alarming that even the official Chinese media started highlighting public discontent.

Shanghai’s time is exceptionally arduous as public rage has flooded the internet. In Shanghai, millions of people faced problems like food shortage and delayed transfer of their infected neighbours to collective quarantine places. Under China’s zero Covid policy, everyone who tests positive must quarantine at designated zones which has ignited public fear about the aftermath of catching the virus. The city has eased movement curbs for some people in low-risk areas, but the vast majority of its 25 million population remains in strict lockdown.

Public transport remains shut, unapproved vehicles are not allowed on the roads, and the only people to move around freely are the police, delivery drivers, neighbourhood committee members, and healthcare workers.

But meeting the demands of millions is a strenuous task. As a result, official delivery channels for food items are overwhelmed and severely backlogged.

The situation is getting out of control, but the health workers and government are doing their best to tackle it.
